Accuweather
This is one of our favorite free apps for weather info. Available for iOS, Android, BlackBerry as well as Windows Phone, Accuweather offers forecasts for over 2.7 million locations worldwide. It has an easy-to-use interface (on any platform) and you can customize which weather conditions you want displayed. It can also indicate how desirable the weather conditions are for outdoor fitness, travel and respiratory health.
Weather Channel
Another app that is available across mobile platforms, the Weather Channel app offers a more interactive interface than Accuweather. Apart from the current weather, it can display hourly, daily or forecasts for the next 10 days. It also has a weather map section where cloud and water temperature info can be overlaid as a layer over the area map. And because it uses Google Maps, it shows current traffic conditions in the selected area.
Forecaster for Windows
Although Windows 8 has a built-in weather app, it works only within the Metro interface. We recommend getting the free Forecaster app (get it from http://goo.gl/V2nlZ). It sits in your taskbar — a single click displays the current temperature as well as a five day forecast.
Swackett for MAC OS
This free weather app has a unique interface. Apart from the current temperature and weather forecasts, it also suggests what you should wear, eat and the cosmetics you should apply to be able to go out in the current conditions. It can also show you a world satellite view of the weather conditions.
Chrome Extensions & Firefox Addons
Weatherbug for Chrome displays the current weather in a beautiful, fullpage interface. It has neat weather animations and forecasts for the next 3 days. It also shows a weather map with relevant overlaid information. The ForecastFox add-on for Firefox adds a live weather counter to the status bar in the browser window. It can be customized by you to show relevant weather data and a click on the icon displays detailed information in a pop-up box.
